I'm a lowly serf just freshly arrived to the realm. After wandering around, seeing a few familiar sights (stories), I am intrigued by the idea of alternate "universes". This is a new concept to me. Could someone please elaborate so I can determine which, if any, universe I may wish to visit? Thank you in advance. Oh, and assume I know absolutely nothing about fantasy and sci-fi and alternate worlds - because I don't...grin.

I for one, can't help but think that is is now two days before Thanksgiving and the looters and rioters have totally ruined the beginning of the holiday season for thousands because they could not accept the fact the cop very well may have been justified in shooting someone the vast majority of the rioters didn't know and would not have given the time of day to before this all started. Now, those looters have destroyed what should be a magical time for untold number of children, some of whom will now go hungry and may even be homeless, but the looters and rioters don't give a rat's ass.

I think it would be nice to see non-writing contests for those who don't write. Maybe an artist contest? (there would be something I can assure you I would stay out of, cause I could make a stick figure look bad) I think there is other creativity available so lets get creative on finding ways for board members to express their abilities.

my solution is more straight forward, you remove the evil like it is a cancer, cut it out and burn it. When it is done right you scatter the evil and turn it on itself. The best example is Hitler's Germany

There is lots of good people do, but the human condition is not by default to be good. If it was the mass evils of the world would be crushed quickly and with very few exceptions the evil is not crushed. It burns itself out then changes from and comes back looking for new victims while the vast majority of the world does nothing.

This is where we differ Kyle. Evil and Good are not as Black and White as we think. I will say this I have seen a lot of horrors in the world more than most people can even fathom but I have seen a hell of a lot more good in the world. So I respect your perception but I think I will keep my positive outlook and energy because to me that is how you combat "Evil". 

Okay, Kyle, I did as you suggested and started with Defender. By the time I was half way through the prologue I was hooked. Have finished Chapter 1 and looking forward to the rest. Thanks again for your suggestion.

I could let others answer that for me, but basically, yes. Brile and O'Connell have that degree of would building and so does Defenders and Re-E. Destiny is to a lesser degree, and I still think the main reason I was brought into the RU was because I like to build worlds and my services were desired primarily for that reason. The world with the least detail of all my stories is AQ, and I still have world maps, backgrounds, psionic power charts, wormhole tech specs, and that sort of thing

Very true, I do think that people are basically good and learn to be not good.  I try to see the good in all and almost everyone I have met in my life has some good in them. But my question still is how does two people end up with completely different perspectives on such a basic fundamental. Its intriguing, I would hazard a guess that we have more in common than we think as well.

Curious it seems you explore the Dark side of humanity more in your stories and I explore the the lighter side of humanity. Following the example of wanting to understand humanity my first thought is what makes two people two completely different views of humanity. 

Chess has been around for centuries and is the most competitive game ever made

Much of the ideas I have from my stories come from a passion for ancient history. this is tempered and twisted by life experiences including time spent on the street as a runaway and some of the wishes I had as a kid.
 
Other things used to create my stories is the desire to explore the human condition. As I have mentioned in other treads, Defenders is my attempt to look at Racism in a different light. Also to look at Religion as a force of great good or incredible evil.
 
Part of what I write about is me trying to figure out why people do what they do. What makes two kids from the same family with the same mom and dad turn out so differently? Why does humanity seem to want as a whole to have a king type figure? Why do leaders lead and why are so few really good people? Those are things I want to answer for myslef so I like to explore deeper issue in my stories and sometimes the best way to do so is to figure out a way to pout the characters in a situation best suited for me to do so, and that is the real challenge for me is to figure out that setting.
