  1. That was really cool, thank you! :)
  2. Unfortunately I ended up not having the time to write this one. I'm still adjusting to my new job and I simply didn't have the ability to write for it when there were other projects that I needed to prioritize. I wish the best of luck to anyone who participates and I'm excited to read them.
  3. I feel you. I've been and still am in a lot of similar situations. I only recently had an upturn to some of them by getting a new job, but if you'd seen me a few months ago I was feeling a lot like you do now. And I 100% understand that desire to quit. I'm not going to tell you what to do. It's your life. If you want someone to soundboard, I'm happy to listen. Fair warning, until next Tuesday I'll be working 13 hour days, so I might be less responsive until then. For the time being, there are a few things I'd like to say on the subject. First, a lot can change in a short time. Just like bad things can come unexpectedly, so can good things. Be ready for both. You might have a bright change right around the corner that finally gets things back on track. Second, you've got a lot of love in your life from what you just said above, and that's something you can build upon. Trust those who love you and they can help. Third, trust yourself. You've made it this far, and survived everything up to this point. You can make it farther, and get to where you need to go. I recognize that all of this was largely unsolicited, so feel free to tell me to stick my opinions somewhere dark and damp if you'd like, but I'm pulling for you regardless.
  4. Sounds like a good plot for a Lovecraftian-style horror.
  5. The link to Chapter 19 of Tragic Genius doesn't go to the chapter, and chapter 19 isn't on the "Tragic Genius" main page either. Sorry to be a bother. Edit: Thank you for fixing it!
  6. What do I have that's been "in progress" since 2015? I legitimately have no idea what this is, and I assume it's something improperly marked if there's a story I have there that matches this description... UPDATE: I found 2. "Rivers of the Dead" is complete, so I assume it just didn't get changed. As for "Logan and Seth" it's a short story collection, and each short story is technically self-contained. There's always a chance for more stories in the collection, so it's still technically "In progress".

Thank you. I predominantly write science-fiction and fantasy these days, and don't really intend on returning to this genre (gay teen high school fiction) except maybe an occasional visit. In regards to your first question: I've been asked this question before. Usually I say something along the lines of "reaching out to Emma would possibly mean reaching out to his family back home, and he wasn't prepared for that possibility". The band definitely told him, but the decision was his. As for Ian and Emma... well, we'll just say that's in the sequel that never got written (and never will be, sorry to disappoint everyone. I've tried a dozen times).
  9. I really appreciate this comment, thank you. I'm glad that it still finds fans, and I hope it always will. This story was quite important to me when I first started it. Who knows? Maybe one day it'll snap back when some very enthusiastic readers find it buried in the internet and they share it with all their friends? Ooh... I honestly don't know on the Tiger. It's probably just somewhere that I slipped up with my plotting.
  10. Thank you for your comments again! I'm glad you appreciate Jacob's development. I was proud of that, but it was one of the things which turned people off to the series at the same time. I received a lot of complaints regarding my willingness to kill characters. I did it the way that I did in order to build tension toward the climactic moment you mentioned, so that the punch was as strong as it could be.
  11. Thank you for your comments! There's a few reasons for the discrepancies you mentioned. I don't think I, as the author, fully understood Faust's character when I started the story, but when this was first released I was also releasing the chapters as soon as I finished them. Once I knew who Faust was, I wanted to play him that way in the end, but couldn't easily go back and change Faust in chapter 1. This is part of the reason why I no longer release chapters ahead of me finishing the book. As far as Ethan's backstory goes, the intent was actually to write a short story for each main cast character's backstory before writing Ashes of Fate. Everyone on the good side except Tristan, since the story is technically about him. Micah's is "The Drawbacks of Being a Monster", Jacob/Kurt's is "Oak Shadows", and Luke/Hayden's is "Is Love a Miracle?", for those who don't know already(Oh, and in season 2, Finn's is "King of the Corn Maze"). Unfortunately, I didn't get Ethan's completed, but I'd already written half of it. I still wanted to include it in the series, so I just threw it into season 1. It was a poor choice in terms of placement, but I've learned from my mistakes.
  12. I intend to take part in this as I do every year. I will see about whether or not I decide to compete for the monetary prize.
  13. I was ecstatic to participate in this, and I'm grateful to the Castle Roland crew for reaching out. I just wanted all of you to know that i love this community and I'm happy to be a part of it.
