Ricky
*taps mic a few times* "is this thing on?" Hiya, I'm D'Artagnon, aka Robby, I have a series of stories on IOMFATS under the name D'Artagnon, all set in a slightly offset version of my parents' Massachusetts small river town. I'd say that my stories are about not just sex or exploring homosexual themes for young people, but about discovering yourself, delving into that adventure that is life, and working on those weird things that defy conventional wisdom, In the near future my existant and continuing stories may wind up here as well. Secretly, there is a project in the works for here alone. I don't want to give away an major spoilers, but it may involve a special sort of summer camp as well as a special sort of summer campers. Grrr. 'Nuff said for now. Anyways, I look forward to reading through the stories here. I'm fascinated yet perplexed by the Revolutions stories. Just began "The Stuff that Dreams Are Made Of" by Ricky and think i'm kinda hooked. So while i'm definitely in writing mode, I'm reading as much as I can as well. Feel free to hit me up on yahoo or skype. I tend to just leave the messengers on all the time so if you don't get me right away, leave a message. I work late nights/early mornings, but my sleep schedule is erratic, so you never can tell if I'm awake in front of the compy. Yahoo and Skype are both robbybluewolf@yahoo.com and robbybluewolf@hotmail.com, respectively. Seeya on the other side, my brothers Robby aka D'Artagnon You flatter me. With as many really great writers here you start with one of mine. Not that they're bad bt there are some really top knotch writers here. And I hope you read the warnings. Although it was my very first story in the genre, and my favorite, it's the only one that contains loss. But enjoy it and thanks for the flowers. Be Welcome! ( I would have suggested blind sensations or roll call for your first. But hey, just glad someone's haveing some fun from them.)
ken barber
D'Artagnon, Robby what perplexes you about the Revolutions Stories?
D'Artagnon
Just the timeline. In reading several of the stories, I've noticed that there are places where the plots merge and in many cases the characters take starring roles in differing stories. I know it's a very tight knit group of writers working on this overall universe, and the storylines and plot progressions in this massive effort are deep and moving. I'm just confused by the timing sometimes. Also, part of me wants to go back and read the Clan Short stories that pre-date or (more likely should be said) that form the basis of the UNIT based stories. So while there is some minor confusion, it is more a matter of wrapping my brain around the entire thing than a lack of understanding about what is going on. It's been an interesting ride. ken barber
ken barber
OK just making sure. I know that someone was once working on a chronological reading list not sure if that ever panned out of if its good idea. Just treat each story as a separate entity reacting to world events. that helped me at first.
Guest
I guess this is where I say hi and a little bit about myself. (due to some issues, I have to remain somewhat anon) Just et me say I am the real lif jamie from Can you spare a quarter. I see a few people have noticed I like beagles. and always will. I won't go into details untill the story is completely posted. Just to say I am now not the little 12 year old begging on the streets. I'm now (just) 30 I've been cruising the sight getting into a lot of the stories, so far I have found them all great. I may comment I hate cliff hangers but any good story does need a few! I hope to read them all. as even though I am dyslexic I am a very avid reader. Right now though due t cluster headaches from my past it's been tough for me to enjoy the stories (just got home fromthe hospital) so Ill be back soon as these damn meds kick out of me and this passes. sorry for my spelling hope it not to horrible:) D'Artagnon and ken barber

Like you I am dyslexic. Profoundly so. And I am also an avid reader. I use Natural Reader and it's neovoices to read to me as I read along. I've found that the multiple input keeps me from flipflopping on the line or losing the thread. I stay with it much better. I also use it's text to speech feature to convert my favorites to mp3 so I can listen to them again on my long drives. Since I'm about 2.5 hours out of DC where I do a great deal of my work it affords me a lot of listening time. I've also found that my ears hear what our minds fill in for our brains. This affords me the ability to beta for a lot of authors and catch things the OCD editors miss. So be welcome! And have some fun while you're here. r ken barber

I love the stories I don't use a reader program but i do tnd to re-read the same lines sometimes three times so it may take me an hour onger to read but it' fun. I got a huge collection of books and even managed to reaad the complete LOTR trilogy (original not movie version) I do use spell checker tons as I have a mac and it's fairly decent spell checking program though I tend to be myself 90% times and just not worry how it comes out. I figure most people can read my stuff though it can get confusing. it took pop teaching me a lot of punctuation. till I was about 23 i just ran everything together. LOL The nice part is I can laugh at it and myself and not care what the ODC people think of it (odc folks dont get me wrong I'm also annul retentive about some things) ken barber

I know, I know. Some of your best FRIENDS are ODC right? ROTFLMAO You sound like me now. And a mac? My gawd, I thought "I" was profoundly dyslexic. "I" can deal with 2 mouse buttons. That's ok Jamie, some of my best friends are MAC owners. You might give Natural reader a shot. Reading AND listening keeps you from having to flipflop the line you're reading. I hope you don't take my teasing seriously. I know exactly what you're saying and where you are in this dyslexic thing people don't undestand. Be welcome my friend, and be happy. roger0002
Okay. I've been around long enough that I should probably introduce myself. My name is Roger, and I am old enough to have gotten more than a few haircuts, back when I still had some to get cut. I am a long haul truck driver, so I don't get to spend a lot of time at home watching TV. I do get time to crank up the laptop and read the fantastic stories on the web. This is the second forum that I have become a member of and I seem to like to participate in this one a heck of a lot more than the other one, for some reason. Maybe its because of the authors that actually respond when they get feedback. I know that the normal opinion about truckers is that we are not very well educated and too dumb and backwards to get a real job, but I have had those so called "real" jobs before, and wound up with high blood pressure, sleepless nights, anger issues, alcoholism and ulcers because of the stress. While trucking isn't entirely stress free, I sleep better and don't have all the other concerns that I had when doing the 9-5 gig. I may not have an MBA, but I did go to college, concentrating on history, English, and creative writing. I also taught myself computers when they started to become popular. I haven't done that in over 10 years, so most of my skills at that are outdated, to say the least. My interests in reading material tend to lean towards fantasy and sci-fi. When those two actually blend is like christmas, birthdays and every other holiday all mixed together. I LOVE it!!! Hope to spend lots of time reading and keeping up with things here. ken barber
Roger, Welcome and glad your here with us. I have never been much of a forum participator prior to this forum. It seems even when we disagree we try to keep it respectful here. A lot of the authors are very active here and the readers are becoming more and more active to, which is the whole point. One of the reason i am a part of this forum and Castle Roland as a whole is we don't judge. Everyone is here for their own reason and has something to contribute should they want to. If you love fantasy pay attention to next spring, thats all I am saying. Welcome and anytime your hands are not on the wheel jump on and jump in. Ricky
Welcome Roger. I know of another trucker who has since retired and he happenes to be a fantastic author and I'm proud to say a friend of mine. I've even managed to go to his place on the top of the mountain where he lives. An he's also brilliant. So I don't have that perception of truck drivers at all. My stepfather was also a long haul trucker and he was no slouch either. In fact, MOST of the truckers I've known did the same thing as you. They left a 9-5 for the freedom of the road. So be welcome and if you happen to read Rick Beck on Awesomedude, drop him a line and talk trucking with him. You'll make his day. He's nearly blind these days or I think he'd still be driving. But his mind is as sharp as it ever was. And a great writer too. Be Welcome Roger. And Ken, disagreeing is like playing chess. You only grow when there is competant oposition. ken barber

mike0151
Hi all I'm a 59 yo gay guy from Liverpool UK. I finally got round to joining this forum today. I have been reading CSU since I first found it quite some years ago and have been enjoying RU since it started. I read lots of stuff but prefer storyline to gratuitous sex scenarios. I have been lucky to have been given the opportunity to edit/proofread for someone that I admire greatly for his writing abilities. I don't have the imagination to actually write stories but I do my best to find the occasional typo or error when I'm in "edit mode". Just thought I'd check in and say Hi. samwise
Hello gang: Having recently joined I must confess that I'm a reader rather than a writer. I doubt I will have much to say, and so will remain a Serf sine die. But this does seem a very sweet site, and I expect to have much fun reading. Many thanks to those who have made and sustained the site. Hugs, S ken barber
Ricky
The forum is also for readers to come and tell the writers they like a story or to speculate where a story might be going. There are a lot of great people here. I've made a lot of friends that I genuinely enjoy. So be welcome. ken barber

Welcome aboard Samwise. Watch your step and keep your hands inside the ride at all times. You got here just about in time for the next Authors Event.... whichever one that is scheduled to be, LOL. Check out the Halloween and Christmas stories we had to get an idea of what we're planning for the next event. Enjoy Ricky
