Interesting.  so ML is an Elven Druid and LM is a Human Ranger...  Let us see how this story develops.

And because I am OCD:

he felt something like a "tag" like vertigo.  <-- did you mean "tug"?

lol I am not influenced by D&D for this story and the characters, don't think so much in terms of "druid" or "sorcerer" or "ranger"...as you'll see further in the story it is basically, elves, humans and a few more races that will be introduced along the way. Then you have warriors, magic users and Speakers. Warriors can chose to learn and specialise in one or more weapons. Magic users or magicians can specialise in one form of magic like fire wizards or water wizards or healers or they magic wards against other magic users or speakers etc. Respectively Speakers can spelialise in defensive or offensive use of abilities and runes and can learn to use a weapon as well if they want.

I tried to "escape" the norm of "oh ok I am a sorcerer I can't handle any other weapon for love of life or money" or "Oh I am a warrior I can only use swords but nothing else" etc.

I would consider my influences to be far and wide like LOTR and video game RPGs but suited down to what and how I wanted to write it.

So Marco (for now he does have an elven name to learn :P) is an elf and he will probably decide to speciliase in bow and magic, although there are a lot more revelations to be had and things change :D:P

Lucas is a Speaker (you'll find out what that means soon enough) and he can use sword(s) as well. So they each have different abilities yes but not D&D wise/like.

I wonder...have I clarified things for you or have I made it worse?! :P:D :D   B)

We'll have to wait and see. As I've told Kyle Aarons a while back, I'm horrible at subtlety, you have to whack me upside the head with something, figuratively speaking. Which was kind of what you did ~~~

lol I've told you nothing that you won't learn within the next chapter :P and if you'd like I am just as proficient at literal whacking on the head :P :P :D

So far, am intrigued by the first chapter. A good first chapter is essential or the reader is not drawn in enough to want to keep turning the pages.

Sure those kids have minds but Mr. Aye Bee has control of exogenous events and thus can puppeteer them that way ;)

Ummmm, wouldn't it be less painful if an Immigration Unicorn just stamped my passport and I stepped through a magic portal?
