  1. D'Narenth lunges with his long sword at the one who just nicked him, while striking the other in the head with his handaxe. Action Surge: 1. Strikes at villain who just nicked him with long sword 2. strikes at hammer wielding villain, who just missed him.
  2. Actions: 1) Move to within melee range of the two humans with crossbows 2) Engage with long sword (magic) and handaxe (magic)
  3. D'Narenth looks at the retreating townsmen. "Forty-two enemies attacked the town. And you idiots would have had us take that lot on? By ourselves! It is a damn good thing that this 'Ambush the ambushers' ploy worked in reverse. Any other result would have been our death." The Dragonborn walks over to where Abram and Eghas are. "Now the Copper has said that the 'caves have the prisoners'. It is obvious, that the village considers the captives to be on their own. We are now in a position to assault what is left of this infestation, destroy them and free whomever is left. Taking, as we will, whatever spoils are left." D'Narenth looks out at everyone. "It may still not be easy, but it is no longer a virtual death sentence to enter the mines and caves. We are far enough away from the caves that the wagons should not be a target, should we leave them here. But unguarded wagons will be ripe for anyone who comes across them. If we are going to assault the caves, then we should hide them the best we can, along with whatever draft animals we leave behind." D'Narenth points to a copse of trees, slightly downhill. "I suggest we hide them over there. There is some grass for the draft animals to feed upon, if they are hobbled. There looks to be a spring there, so that will provide water for them and us. We can take some small branches and confuse our trail coming back out, so we don't give others a clue that our wagons are there. The only question is, do we attack this evening or wait for the morning?" D'Narenth then looks directly at Eghas. "You know my feelings about those two." He glances at the two new boys. "Keep a tight leash on them, else they be Dragon food." D'Narenth turns back to Zem. "Little brother, Since it seems no one else wants the longsword, I will take it, if you trust me."
  4. D'Narenth looks around and does a double face-palm. "By all the Gods and Demons! How did you guys ever survive in your own lands? Going off by yourselves... Eghas! Get control of your people!"
  5. "Zem, you cannot surrender, without all of us surrendering. The enemy would know this." D'Narenth says this softly.
  6. "By all the Gods, No!" D'Narenth says. "To think that this was their only spellcaster is folly. We already know that this was merely their best spellcaster, which by and of itself means there are others. We surrender and are bound by another less able caster is where your plan is deficient... There will be no surprise, except what they have in store for us. No, I will not take such a chance." D'Narenth looks coldly at all of them. "A few Gnolls, Goblings and Kobalds were taken by us. That does not mean we have weakened them to the extent you, little brother, seem to think. No trading party would venture into the pass, less armed, until they know for sure that the pass is in fact safe." Scratching his eyehorn, he continues, "While our foes may be weakened, we have no intelligence as to how much they are weakened. "If our 'caravan' is not attacked, then we can assume they have been weakened to a point that they are hesitant to attack such a lightly armed party as we are. At which point, since we know where their mine entrance is, we can double back to attack them. "I counsel caution, by not assuming more than is actually necessary." D'Narenth now looks directly at Zem. "Nor will I hide inside of a wagon, where I am mere meat for the taking. That is my final word on that part of your plan."
  7. "I cannot guide from inside a wagon." D'Narenth tells everyone. "I am good on a horse or on foot. Mounted, I am much more mobile and will be of more use to you, when the inevitable ambush occurs. And occur it will." At this, D'Narenth lifts the last of the kegs and places it within the wagon. He turns and looks at Eghas. "As Abram asked, when do we leave?"
  8. After listening, D'Narenth turns and storms off to the shrine, and sleep. Muttering all the way.
  9. As D'Narenth takes his new hand ax, he lays one of his old ones down. "There is a good one, albeit not as good as this one, for someone else."
  10. Having said this, D'Narenth walks over to Zemelett. "Zem, in the wagon is a decent hand ax. If no one has claim on it, I would claim it."
  11. D'Narenth had stomped away from both Eghas and Abram earlier. He had settled down and sharpened and oiled his weapons, inspected his mail for damage and fixed it where appropriate. As he had listened to the translations of what everyone had to say, he kept shaking his head. When Vorador finally addressed him, in his own tongue, He stood up and walked over to the lad. "Vorador, it was the copper dragonborn that said I had to make a journey. Those are the traditions of his clan. Not those of the Silvers. I proved myself in close combat, back at the pass. "It was Car'Sel who invoked the ancient tradition of the Oath Giver. I was foolish enough to agree with him, so I am now bound by my own words. "I would travel with Abram, to track the blackguard, Dalest, if only to see Justice. I would like to think all of you would follow. By following, you would learn to act as a co-ordinated group. There is no doubt in my mind that it would be a dangerous trek. You would all learn more battle-skills, before we are done. "Car'Sel has already dispatched my report to my townsfolk, along with my request for their aid in ridding the mines of our common enemy. They will be here within another day or two, at the most." D'Narenth now turns to the entire group and spits, before he continues. "It is therefore most troubling that this group of adventurers would attempt to go into the mine, ill-equipped and ill-prepared. My oath does not bind me to a fools errand. "Eghas, the trail does indeed grow cold. Despite the so-called help you would seemingly employ. Remember, should you do this thing, should they get out of your sight, they are mine."
  12. D'Narenth turns to Abram and asks, "It seemed to be obvious, earlier, that this Tiefling did not speak any of the languages we know, yet... What language did you just hear from him? It must be one that you know. Else why would you signal me to follow you?"
  13. "Because if you don't, then the person next to you, may just feed you to the next Orc they see, to keep from being Orc-food himself!" With that, D'Narenth slaps his thigh and begins laughing. But just as quickly as he began laughing, D'Narenth sobers and says to Abran in antargeth common, "What troubles me, is the feeling that we are being played upon by powers that we cannot see."
  14. "The mine Shaft will require a real military expedition, in order to ferret out that evil that lies there." D'Narenth explains to them all, in draconic. "There are not enough guards in this town to attack such a holding. There are not enough Warriors in my village... But perhaps together... Car' Sel, when you contact my people, ask them. It is an infestation that should be driven out. Sooner would be better, but planning takes some small amount of time." D'Narenth attempts to drive his point home, "I do not fear death. I fear needless loss of life, when such can be prevented." "Here, take this coin, Eghas." D'Narenth hands him half his coin from the pass.
  15. D'Narenth nods, "You may be right, Abram. Damn, but we need to have them learn Common. Perhaps we can pick up a few words of their tongue, while they pick up ours. Let's go talk to their 'leader'."
