  1. Sorry if I ruffle some feathers but...does anyone know where the original Sands of Time may be archived? Even though it was nowhere complete, I enjoyed it. Would be nice if I could reread it every once in a while. Thanks in advance.
  2. Agree with TT. One year has gone by with no continuation of Drummer Boy. Of course, my main concern is that Arthur is quite well, relaxing on a beach imagining Thomas' fleet sailing by. If Arthur decides not to continue with Pacifica, so be it. What he has created with DB remains the standard for historical fiction. One of my wishes regarding DB would be Arthur allowing other authors to add to the saga. Some examples of short stories could be (off the top of my head): - Oliver Perrin: Running from his drunken father and ending up with his benefactor. - Oliver and Tommy Perrin: Would liked to have a scene with just the 2 talking/reconnecting. - Snot and Maketja: It was noted that they had become close. - Who the heck was the Prince's spy in Thomas' camp. Heck, I remember the vigorous forum debate about the need or not for "dangling bits" in DB. With these side stories, why not throw it open. Of course, I Arthur should have final say as to what would be allowed. Again, my main hope Arthur is well and recovering from his multi-year long writing adventure with the Drummer Boy.
  3. Just finished Chapter 32. God I love this story. I haven't been this enthused since discovering Arthur's The Drummer Boy. Dear Roland...please, please, please continue adding new chapters.
  4. Ref Chapter 14, Book 3: 2 big thumbs up!! It almost felt as if Thomas and friends were back on the Peninsula during the war. Again, great chapter.
  5. Just bought the book. Now I can delete all those chapters I cut and pasted from Nifty
  6. Random Thoughts, I was going to write this up a couple of weeks ago but I've spent the last two weeks coughing up my lungs; or at least try to. Well, Thomas is afloat and onto his next adventure. I figure Arthur has the story pretty much firmed up but I was hoping that there would be more information on Thomas' fellow 1r Regimiento Espanol Guerillas. It is rather fun to speculate on what happened or might happen to them. Just off the top of my head: Sergio and Carlito were given Thomas' Spanish hacienda but they are traveling with Thomas. Maybe the Spanish king grabbed the property? Majors Jones (quartermaster): Thought for sure he would be involved with running the shipping company. Jervis (surgeon): At the end of Book 2, thought he would have opened a clinic in Opporto or Vimeiro; or sailed with the fleet. Maketja (romani): He and Snot were close friends in Book 2 but no mention so far. Stayed in Spain? A spy in France? Perrin Brothers: Couldn't return to Spain. Traveled back to England or did they seek their fortune in the colonies. Simon Croxley, son of Maximillian Croxley (who died at the Battle of Olivenca): Stay with Thomas or return to the service of Captain Morgan. I know there wasn't much about him in Book 1 but he's one of those minor characters you wonder what happened. Yes, I know, I'm such a "fanboy". But hey, it's fun to speculate on what will happen in Book 3. Will Thomas run into other members of his army overseas? I know British sailor impressment ended around this time but who knows, maybe Thomas will rescue some former troops. Anyway, can't wait for tomorrow's chapter release. Cheers.
  7. Yes! With Chapter 5, Arthur is hitting his stride once again. The next two weeks will seem like an eternity when chapter 6 is posted.
  8. Ahhhhh... All is right with the world. Capt Toro is back. Thank you Arthur.
  9. "The End" NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!! Arthur, thank for the all the effort, sweat, and probably tears as well in writing this mighty epic. This is one story I will continue to reread many times over the years. Take care and may your future stories be as epic as this one. CMSgtZulu
  10. Thank you Arthur, chap 22 absolutely brilliant, worth the wait, thank god for the TBC at the end.
  11. Arthur, Thank you for the info on Dow's. It is now on my buy list for future consumption, preferably while reading of Thomas' further adventures of course. One quick comment, just how far will Thomas' place his boot up the Viscount's arse after learning that Wellington tried to commandeer Lt Morgan and the rest? Should be an entertaining encounter, don't you think.
  12. Although today is only Wednesday, I've already have a bottle of Niepoort Tawny sitting in my cabinet awaiting the next chapter. That's what I love about stories like Arthur's. I get to right click and research for information such as "oporto" wines. Niepoort wineries have been in the same family since the 1800s. I'm drinking the from the same vines as possibly Thomas or Percy. How cool is that?
  13. Since it has been 2 weeks for a new chapter (thank you Arthur!), I popped open a new bottle of brandy (unfortunately, not requisitioned by Carmelo from a Frenchman's tent).
  14. I knew just as I hit the send key i should have deleted the "bromance" paragraph. The word moral should have been morale and I'm an old fart who should keep his mouth shut on some issues. Sorry militarypress.
