  1. It was indeed a refreshing change to have another character take front stage. I also was glad to hear that Thomas' family was kept abreast of his being alive and as always look forward to Thursdays for further chapters.
  2. The wait for Book 2 was well worth it - of course. As others have said the attention to detail and the great characters make Arthur's writing such a pleasure to read. Thursdays have once again become my favorite day of the week knowing that another chapter of this wonderful story will be posted for me to read.
  3. Al - Thank you for the insight as to how this works. I was not so much critizing as bringing up that I had been impressed that previous chapters were so error free. I do so appreciate Arthur's writing and your editing.
  4. What a great chapter - It was awesome and as so many battles show every plan for battle goes out the window as soon as the fighting begins. I have been looking forward to Thursdays for the latest chapter. Now I have to wait for the beginning of Book 2. I am sure that Arthur needs a well deserved rest but hope that he starts posting sooner rather than later. I don't want to be a nit picker but the early paragraphs in this chapter had an inordinate amount of errors and I can only wonder what happened to Arthur's editor.
  5. Every time I think that Arthur has reached a level that cannot be surpassed he then writes and surprises me! All I can say about the Tatoo appearance is W O W !!! My eyes misted as the names of the dead were read after a marvelous recounting of Thomas' original bravery. Now we see that even the Viscount can't be trusted to look out for Thomas and his boys. Such great writing.
  6. Oh NO! I have been enjoying looking for Thursday for the next chapter and now you tell me it is almost over. Please, please, please tell me that he isn't going to kill off Captain Marker. The feel of the period and the depth of the characters makes this such an enjoyable read. Again, reminds me so much of author Bernard Cornwell and I just can't tell you how much I enjoy this story. I'm not ready for it to end. t
  7. David Lee is one of my favorite authors and this story is quickly becoming another one that I look forward to updates. Keep up the good work David!
  8. I am looking forward to Part 2 and certainly hope that the guys change their minds and let Lance fuck them silly.
  9. Just finished Chapter 12 with a lump in my throat and tears in my eyes. The battle scene was written with such force that I could hear the roar of the drums and the screams of the fallen. Such amazing characters. So hard to wait for Thursday but well worth it for the chapters which are so vivid and alive.
  10. Thursdays just do not come often and fast enough! I am beginning to think that Arthur is as good as Bernard Cornwell in writing historical novels!! Again, great attention to detail and absolutely vivid characters.
  11. So glad that it's Thursday and another chapter of Drummer Boy has appeared. What a great story. The attention to detail and keeping true to the times is amazing and I look forward to the further adventures.
  12. Found the first two chapters on Mr. Nifty and wrote to the author about how much I enjoyed his writing and the story of the main character. He responded and told me about Castle Roland and about chapter 3 being posted. Now I have to wait for the rest. I enjoy reading historical novels and this one appears to be one of the best.
