  1. While transferring the files to the new site, Forever caught my eye. In my off time, I started to read it. Then Forever 2 - Changes, and hit chapter 29! Ack!! And Skyped Allen that I hoped another chapter was coming soon. And then he told me he had just received Ch 30 and it was going up. Total Happy Dance. Now as I did the QC check on the stories, I think it best that I thank Jack Schaeffer for his stories and gently beg for more. Please? Mary
  2. Folks, All I can say, is this ain't 'Harry Potter's Hogwarts'. Get your popcorn, favorite drink and pull up an easy chair for a great read. Mary
  3. Today I am listening to the news from Charlottesville VA, as I moved this file to our new site. I am tearful. When I was a small child in Los Angeles, I had a neighbor woman who's left arm had a number tattooed on it. I asked about it and she explained that she alone of her family was a survivor of the Nazi Concentration Camps; except one child who was sent to the United States of America in the 1930s for safety. That child was now grown-up and living across the street from us, married with twin girls my age. This wonderful woman shared bits of her culture and religion, while embracing American ones. My life was made so much richer for knowing her and having another view of the war that both my parents, uncles and cousins fought in. As Americans, we must never forget how easy it is to slide into hate. Eric, this is a powerful story that rings true. Love is the answer. Thank you, Mary

    A New Trek

As I am preparing the new site, I am putting in links and stuff. I don't often have much time anymore to read and was pulled into this one. Ricky, trying to categorize this one as a 'Romance', 'Comedy' or 'Growing Up' is difficult, so we are going with the 'Romance' but it is so much more. If anyone needs a fun, afternoon read during this hot summer, I highly recommend 'A New Trek' by Ricky.
  5. Hey everyone, MultiMapper has posted chapter 5 to UA7: Pioneer this afternoon on his sites, http://brokenbard.com/ and http://bentandtwisted.us/ I highly recommend this story and especially this chapter. And please, he loves feedback either here or by email. Mary
  6. My five year old son. Who was exposed to catsup by my superintendent from Tennessee; who cared him for while I went back to the United States from Greece for my mother's funeral when he was two. I have never broken him of that habit. Catsup on tacos, eggs, heaven help us, steak... He did live to grow up, serve two hitches in the Army, get a Bachelors in Engineering, a Masters, marry, become a step-father and now has a three year old running him ragged. My brother, his uncle, well he would have given the five year old kid a mixed alcoholic drink to wash it down with. And laugh.

    Revolution

Wyatt, I am sorry for not seeing this last year. Mike, Eric, Sam and the Unholy Trinity are in Metamorphosis and APOC, with the occasional guest shots in the other stories written by Roland, Ken Barber, Eric Aune and Al Norris. Multimapper and the other authors have been doing a wonderful job keeping their presence in RU alive. Thank you for reading, Mary
  8. I allow that one of my best friends handed over his brunch recipes to me to copy and he happens to be gay. But my introduction to Brunch was by my father and was an event to be enjoyed. Though after we returned from Greece, watching my father's face as my son dumped catsup on Eggs Benedict was precious. Both lived through the experience.
  9. Happy Holidays Everyone! MultiMapper has posted Chapter 16 for Holiday Handoff. You can download the complete story from his sites to view in your particular ebook reader format. I personally love this story (well all of them actually). The line '"The Nazi Flight Attendant told me to sit over here.' got my attention and so many others kept me waiting each year for the next chapter. Please enjoy! Mary
  10. For everyone's enjoyment from Geek Squad Ch 10 - Alexander vs the Tent! "Alexander glanced over and started to tell the others what his parents had told him, but this distraction caused the improperly assembled tent to collapse for the second time on him. He started kicking at it while trying for the third time to bend the poles over the top only to have one snap back and catch him in the neck. He roared and picked the whole thing up only to have one of the other poles come out of the sewn in holder and catch him in the shin. Before anyone could react, the entire tent caved in on him, and did so in a way he ended up on the inside of it. It took only another few seconds for fabric to rip and a pole to snap in half." Somethings are too good to laugh at by yourself!
  11. If you noted the reactions of the folks from Seandra to the quality of life in Kandric's era, there has been a loss of knowledge and skill in many basic sub-fields, as well as knowledge of the Primary Fields. They also noted, that many are satisfied with one sub-field, where they used to be encouraged to study as many as possible.
  12. Regarding Kandric: He has two Primary Fields, Shaman and Legionnaire (-1 Echelon), Sub-Fields of Outdoorsman, Ruinseeker and Ferret Sect Warrior (also -1 Echelon). His guilded level is Secondary Echelon, step 2 and by Chapter 30 is actually an Expert Echelon (or Master Echelon in the two noted as (-1 Echelon). Classes are more complex: Royal Class = Kings, princes, dukes, marquis; Legendary Echelon; counts, viscount, baron; Master Echelon; earl, baronet, knight; Expert Echelon Upper Class = Merchant prince; Teaching Echelon; High Merchant; Merchant; Secondary Echelon Middle Class = Low merchant; land owner; Skilled Peasant; Primary Echelon Lower Class = Peasant, Servant, Training Echelon, Indentured Servant Beggar Class = Squatter, Beggar, Crippled Property Class = Children; Ex-slave, Orphan, Slaves Echelons: Training, Primary, Secondary, Teaching, Expert, Master, Legendary, High Council, Demigod Field: Some few very lucky people, are born with innate abilities. These 'trainable' beings have the ability to break out of the class that they were born into, and rise as far as they are willing to go. The Magic that is within these beings is specific to a certain 'Field'. Some of the fields have been lost in time and although the individual in Kandric's time may have that innate ability, they would have been slotted into a related field and not be as good in that as expected. Sub-Fields: Sub Fields can be learned by any being, even if they do not possess enough innate magic to be trained in a true Field. These are very much fields of study that someone trains long and hard to master. Minor Sub-Fields: Lost since time of Seandra - Farmer, Fisherman, Glassworker, Leatherworker, Shipwright, Stoneworker, Woodworker. Some of these have not come out yet in 'Kandric' or 'Sands of Time' but are part of the World of Kandric.
  13. If Janet is forced to kill, then maybe she will start a project to clone... Chase. More Ferret-Hybrids for the RU. Just saying.
  14. I have read this series fully maybe 10 times. I totally agree it is incredible and offers many things for a reader to think about and consider. Besides being just plain fun. Now if the author will provide us more chapters!

    Spider

Treat, treat, treat!!! Oh yeah. It was a treat! Spider grabbed my heart the first time I read chapter 1, and unfortunately with MultiMapper's library of 'In Progress' work, it doesn't get enough updates. Like Holiday Handoff, the Hurt series, the Shadow of a Soul, and all the iterations of Vincent (we know him as Bug here) in Frontier, UA7 and now Metamorphosis. Thank you sir for your dedication to this advocation. Mary
