Abram, A little in Awe, never  having actually seen A dragonborn use its breath weapon before. Hell he has only seen a few Dragonborn in his life and mostly just merchants on trade trips. He clears his head and wades into the remaining goblins with a renewed vigor. Actually proud to be fighting side by side with something from the legends.

Reaching the first ledge Elan'fal goes towards D'Nareth's position and fires a firebolt at the Gnoll nearest to D'Nareth while keeping in somewhat cover and maintaining his detect magic.

Move: Towards Innil

Action: Firebolt cantrip to Gnoll nearest (according to Zerg's map in other thread) to Innil.

((OCC I think this is the last turn of detect magic?))

D'Narenth lets loose with a cone of subarctic cold air on the three remaining Goblings. One manages to spin and get out ot of the full effect, the toher two do not, but unforutunately for the one who dodged, it was already injured and the breath came close to max damage so all three dropped, although the two formally uninjured are still breahitng... barely.

Reld slices into the last dogand sends it down the rocks like he did the first two. He yells out in his commmon, "Hey, I'm hearing mroe barking, but it is from behind these rocks! There's caves up here!"

Egas manages to get the Gnoll's harms behind its back and starts tying the hands before the gnoll wakes and tries to shake him off. There is a test of strength between the two, with Egahs just barely gaining the upper hand long enough to finish the knot. this gives Eghas a clear advantage, but the gnoll is still trying to escape before he can be fully restrained.

Innil you enter the cave and cut around the first corner. The cave echos with the sounds of moving water falling into a pull and growls and barks. You also think you can hear some screams or some crying. The passage "Y's" at this point iwth one passage going down and to the right whiel the other goes steeply down to the left. From where you are at you cannot tell where the soudns are coming from, but the sounds of footsteps are definately disappearing down the left passage.

Because a few of you cannot act with the listed actions You will get a chance to go at the end of this turn:

Quelton hears some laughter in the dark then, suddenly, the area around where the laughter comes from lights up with farie fire glow. From your vantage point you see a cloaked figure get up and run.

At this point there are no targets for Abram or Elan'fal until they see the fleeing hooded figure. Quelton, Elan'fal, and Abram can each drop weapons pull a bow and take a qucik shot before the figure gets behind some rocks or chase after it.

those that are not climbing cannot siee the figure but can see the glow of something/someone moving in the rocks at the top of the pass

Slipping on his boot, Zemzelett scans the area.  Try as he might, he cannot see any clear target save from the gnoll that Eghas is wrestling with.  That thing needs to be restrained; perhaps he can tilt the odds even more towards the tiefling's favor.

"Go!  Go!  Eghas Go!

Go!  Go!  Eghas Go!

Don't let that gnoll beat you tonight!

You gotta beat it up in the fight!

Go!  Go!  Eghas Go!

Go!  Go!  Eghas Go!"

Turning to Barett, he tells him of the need to evacuate the boys.  "Some of the boys are still hurt.  We're close, very close to the Dwarf Village - you saddle up, and bring them them there as soon as you can.  I'll have to stay here and keep that guy lighted up."

Before Zemzelett heads off to climb, he has a few words with Melirel.  "Melirel, Barett's in charge, but if something happens to him, you're second in command.  Keep everyone together, and watch your backs!"  He pats the rogue on the shoulder.

Next, he beams at Reinlor, and praises him profusely while ruffling him on the head: "Wow, that's an awesome job you did!  It's almost good as new!  Now, keep your head down, I know you were hurt by that exploding flask, so take care, okay?"

Then he taps the wizard-in-training.  "Gothan, I could sure use a spell to help me Jump up there.  Think you're up to it?"

Passing by Talarc, who was still wincing at his injury, he said, "Chin up, Talarc!   That's your first battle wound - I know you'll survive it and become even stronger!"

Finally, he spots Luth, the only one among them who have proper boots and pretty good armor.  "Luth, do you want to stay and help?  Come, let's get you your first taste of combat."

The Half-Elf turns to the assembled group, who were now making preparations to depart under Barett's instructions.  "Go quickly, while the enemy is distracted!  Vorador, Luth!  We'll cover them!"

The half-elf hobbles over to the base of the cliff with Luth and Vorador in tow.  He's dreading the need to ascend, but thankfully, Reinlor has done his job.  Zemzelett wasn't over-praising the boy - the wound to his foot has closed nicely, which was a testament to the cleric trainee's skill.  He should thank him more later.

Bonus Action: Bardic Inspiration to Eghas' attempt to completely restrain the gnoll (be it a crack on the head or a grapple).

Move to bottom of the cliff to begin ascent (don't climb yet)

Ready Action: Vicious Mockery on foe.  Trigger: Foe tries to attack Barett or the boys.

Resources left: 1 more spell, then it's nothing but Vicious Mockery and Crossbows.

Elan'fal sheaths his short stuff and throws a firebolt cantrip at the fleeing hooded figure and aims for his legs hoping to drop him, incapacitate him or in anyway slow his movements. "Stop him!!!" He shouts first in their common tongue and then points fiercely from Abram to the fleeing figure. He repeats in dragontongue hoping that Abram can understand it.

(detect magic is as of yet unbroken and in affect)

Innil hesitates a moment before putting his bow and arrow away and drawing his sword. As quietly as he can Innil proceeds down the left passage where he can hear footsteps.

Every little bit Innil pauses to listen carefully to try for more information about what is ahead.

Innil, since you are all by your lonesome and no one knows where you went, I will start with you. Moving down the left passage, you come withinin a fraction of a centimeter of flling into a pit, but just, and I do mean just manage to slide to the side as it opens up under you. As you hug the right wall, you can look down twenty feet and see the botom of the pit has sharpened sticks and at lest two skeletal remains in it. there are also at least four very large rats down there and you can see bones stripped bare of meat at the bottom, so someone/something feeds them to keep them down there and ready to feed on anyone unfortuante enough to fall in. at the bottom of the pasage you can see it levels out and there are old tibers suppritning what appers to be an old mine. the sounds of rushing water are louder down here and you can not hear the yelling, barking or screaming because to the echo of the rushing water. You also can' hear any footsteps, again, becase of background noise.

Zem, Barret moves off with the boys on the mounts, throwing up a fog cloud in the center ot the narrow pass to make targeting him of the boys beyond difficult. you get to the edge of the cliff where all the action is. Vorador moves up to help guard the kids, muttering about missing all the fun to take care of a bunuch of snot nosed "deep pockets".

Elan'fal you toss a firebolt and hit the rocks right next to the fleeing figure. As you see him move, he has somehting magical on his back and somehting on his hand, in his hand, or  around his wrist. He is not holding still enough to tell for sure what either of the two items is.

Abram gives chase and moves to the upper part of the ridge. As you get ot the top, yu can see the figure appears to be wearing a dress or kilt like item as something is flowing aorund the legs just below the knees. Whatever it is is not hampering movement. Also thanks to the farie fire around the hooded figure, you can clearly make out the hilt of a weapon poking out through a slit in the back of the cloak, a quiver over the back over top of the cloak and a long bow in the right hand.

Eghas didn't post so I assume he is still tusseling with the Gnoll. Since the creature's hands are tied Eghas is able to knock it back down and put it into a submission hold. As long as nothing hampers you next turn, you will be able to finish hogtying it.

Quelton, you cast a 7 point heal on yourslef before moving in the direciton of the fleeing figure.

Reld scans the rocks and moves back in the direction of the dead Goblings. "There is a small opening going inside the hill, but it is too small for anything to get out or me to get in. There has to be a bigger cave around here somewhere!"

D'Narenth throws the rock and it misses the fleeing figure. You also can hear some backing and snarling cmming fomr a nearby small crack in the rocks and you can also smell the hint of wood smoke and a foul smelling meat being cooked comming from the crack near you.

"Well, I guess it's our turn to climb!  Vorador?  Luth? Let's go."

Letting out a deep breath, Zemzelett begins to scale the rocks.  The half-elf hopes he can maintain concentration on Faerie Fire long enough for his allies to subdue the unknown attacker.

Whilst ascending, he hears someone roar in the distance, "Rally!  Rally!"  The rest of the words were unintelligible, but he could clearly make out the Dwarven greeting.  There are dwarves here?   As it would be rude not to answer, he returns the greeting in the customary Dwarven fashion, "RALLY-HO!".

Action + Move (Dash): Climb up.
Maintain Faerie Fire to maximum 60 seconds (8 more rounds).

Quelten surveys the battlefield and comes to a sudden dead stop.  He's unsupported, and the party has managed to essentially scatter.  Especially with what looks like the majority of the kids taking off with Barrett.  "Rally!" he bellows, touch his holy symbol as if for support.  "Rally!  Regroup before advancing!  Rally!"

Obeying his own orders, he dashes to where he saw D'Narenth and Abrams earlier, looking around for either them.

{{ Free Action:  Speech }}

{{ Dash Action:  Move to provide Eghas support  }}

{{ Surroundings check:  where are the party members, and what is the current state of the battlespace -- terrain, enemies, etc }}

Elan'fal goes towards Quelten, and speaks in dragontongue to D'Nareth. "Quelten is telling us to rally to him, and Eghas the tiefing, we are too scattered. Please relay this to Abram, you can talk his common tongue. But we must also not let that hooded creature leave." Then he fires a firebolt at the fleeing figure's legs.

Move: Towards Eghas and Quelten.
Action: Firebolt cantrip to fleeing figures legs to incapacitate.

After taking a few breaths to center himself Innil carefully heads back towards the entrance to the passage. When he reaches it Innil goes a short distance into the right passage to listen for any sounds before heading out of the cave and towards where he last saw Eghas.

**** Note from GM: Wow, this is becoming more and more interesting ****

Now as this plays out over my next few posts, I want you all to realize you all missed an important clue, so don't go blaming me for this outcome...

****End GM Note****

Quelten, as you try to rally people toward you, you can't help but note the new allies are not really comprehending or  whatever you want to call it. Instead they continue to go after the fleeing figure.

Elan'fal tosses a firebolt at the figure and scores a solid hit. You hear a shout of pain from a woman's voice. She turns and draws a sigal in the air and a trio of magic missiles form and launch into Elan'fal doing a total of eight points of damage.

Melirel and Luth both see this and fire the bows you allowed them to take. Since the woman is no longer in cover and is glowing with farie fire, both boys hav advantage and even with not being trained, both hit. Luth scoring a critical hit as his arrow hits her dead center and sinks in deeply. The combination of firebolt, short bow hit, and long bow critical does 30 points of dmage to a woman who had 14 total hit points. (this takes her stright to dead)

By the time D'Narenth and Abram get to her, they can see it is a waste of time to even attempt to save her. Her longbow still held in her dead hands. Looking at her now, you can clearly she she was an Elf.

With no other obvoius activity around him, Eghas finishes hogtying the Gnoll

Innil moves back up and takes a slight detour to get a feel for what is to the right. the passage goes down, but is very much a natural cave with a small stream running out of a crack in the left wall and cutting down the passage. Moving in enough to block off the sounds or echoing rushing water, you can hear some barking, snarling and screams which sonds like anguish and fear. you see no sign of light, but the passage way curves down and to the right out of sight. You come back out of the cave to the sounds of silence other than what can be vaguely herd comming from the depths of the cave.

At this point a few of you can hear some snarling and barking comming out from some passages way too small to even think of fitting into. Barret, with Vorador as support moved though the pass and headind down the road toward what you were told of the Dwarven village with Reinlor, Talarc and Gothan. A glob of fog cuts down sight and none of you you can see them. Reld is up half way between the bottom of the pass and the top of the rocks. Zem, Luth and Melirel are at the base fo the pass right next to the rocks. Quelten has moved over to see if Eghas needs some help. Eghas has the Gnoll firmly secured. D'Narenth and Abram are looking down at a very dead elf female who had all the looks of being a ranger. Innil you come out of the mouth of the cave only to find all is quite save for the sounds comming out of the cave.

There are dead scattered all over the place and some of you are injured to some degree. those not real close to the cracks in the rocks hear nothing at all.
