Today I am listening to the news from Charlottesville VA, as I moved this file to our new site. I am tearful.

When I was a small child in Los Angeles, I had a neighbor woman who's left arm had a number tattooed on it. I asked about it and she explained that she alone of her family was a survivor of the Nazi Concentration Camps; except one child who was sent to the United States of America in the 1930s for safety. That child was now grown-up and living across the street from us, married with twin girls my age.

This wonderful woman shared bits of her culture and religion, while embracing American ones. My life was made so much richer for knowing her and having another view of the war that both my parents, uncles and cousins fought in.

As Americans, we must never forget how easy it is to slide into hate.

Eric, this is a powerful story that rings true. Love is the answer.

Thank you,

Mary
